The Most Insecure Election in History
New survey reports 20% of absentee voters in 2020 admitted fraud. Plus updates from ID, WV, LA, PA, NV, WI, and the US.
My headline stands regardless of whether this new survey is accurate or not. Absentee voting opens our elections up to fraud and in 2020, we had historically high levels of absentee voting (43%). Ergo, 2020 was the most insecure election in modern times.
There are many ‘bombshell’ reports in the election integrity world that do not surprise me, but this survey did. 20% of absentee voters in the 2020 election admitted to committing one or more types of fraud? This included voting in states where they no longer resided, filling out ballots on behalf of another, signing ballots on behalf of another, and being paid to fill out a ballot. I am not surprised this happened but that it happened to such an astonishing amount and that people admitted to doing it?
I have not seen much of a response from big media about this survey. The Washington Post basically dismissed it as not passing the sniff test. Meanwhile, conservative media and Trump have amplified it. That means in red states (looking at you Idaho), you have been given new leverage to move your legislators to make real progress on securing elections. Given the survey results, that effort should start and focus on encouraging in-person voting and discouraging absentee and mail-in voting. Absentee voting should be the last resort for people who cannot vote in person and not the first option for those that sacrifice integrity for convenience.
ID: Pushback on RCV at Townhall - Those behind the Open Primaries Initiative held a townhall in Twin Falls last Tuesday. The pro-’ranked choice voting’ panel took limited questions from a skeptical audience.
WV: SoS Warner - The CIA Stole the 2020 Election - In a gubernatorial discussion (34:40 min mark), West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner stated that the CIA stole the 2020 election from Trump. He cited the testimony from Mike Morrell, former acting CIA Director, stating that he worked with Biden campaign staffer and current US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to get 51 senior intel officials to sign a letter that falsely stated the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation. Polls have shown that could have changed the minds of enough Biden voters to swing the 2020 election.
LA: Judge Orders New Election Citing Illegal Voting - The sheriff election in Caddo Parish was decided by one vote, however, a judge tasked with reviewing complaints ordered a new election be held. At least 11 votes appear to have been cast illegally and included people that voted both in person and via absentee.
US: Texas, The Federalist, Daily Wire Sue Over Censorship - In a similar vein as the Biden vs Missouri case, this lawsuit was filed last week against the US State Department for funding and promoting ‘tools’ that are enlisted to censor media companies that supposedly push MDM (mis/dis/mal) information.
NV/WI: Updates in ‘Fake’ Elector Cases - Nevada is now added to the list of states where alternate electors are being pursued criminally for apparently misrepresenting themselves as legitimate electors in the 2020 election. Meanwhile in Wisconsin, a similar civil case not pursued by the state but by attorneys on behalf of Democrat voters settled out of court.
ID: McGrane Joins GOP Secretary of State Effort to Restore Trust in Elections - Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane co-signed a press release with four other Republican Secretaries of State casting blame on both parties for the loss of trust in our elections and to challenge them to help restore it. The letter claims that progress is being made pointing to the relative acceptance of the 2022 elections compared to 2020. Transparency and public education on how elections work are cited as ways to improve public perception as well as policies such as voter ID, post-election audits, and pre-processing and tracking of absentee ballots.
US: Giuliani Ordered to Pay in Defamation Case - Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was ordered to pay $148 million in a defamation case with two Fulton County Georgia election workers he called out in public comments. Giuliani had earlier stated he was not contending making false statements, but that it was in his constitutional right to give his opinion and that it had no bearing on threats or harassment the two workers subsequently received. Further, he mentioned that he was unable to submit evidence in his case because the judge threatened to hold him in contempt if he did so. Giuliani said he would appeal and predicted it will be overturned quickly.
PA: AI Used to Make Campaign Calls - I wrote recently about the use of Artificial Intelligence in elections. Here is another example where this technology is being deployed - making campaign calls. A congressional race in Pennsylvania will be using an AI bot to call prospective voters and donors and engage in a conversation.
